No other smartphone ever did that -- not that much anyway. Maybe it's not very obvious in your country, but in the US, everyone I know and their dog, has an iPhone. It came with a touchscreen way back in 2000, in fact that's where the term smartphone originated (it actually says smartphone on the box). The Nokia communicator had been around before that but it was a PDA with built in phone. The R380 was the other way round and it's been that way ever since.
