I think Sonys security is easily by passed, a friend of mine has been able to get software that way, but at this point why?
I have been using Vegas since V1 and Vegas Audio, I loved Vegas4, but when B and H offered V6 for $100 that was terrific and then with the recent upgrade to Pro8 that included DVDA it is a no brainer.
I personally do not give copies of my Vegas and I don't want my serial number getting out there, as long as Sony offers affordable upgrades, I will upgrade, what pisses me off is when I upgrade and a month later they come in with a new version that if I had waited I could have gotten, also Magic Bullet Looks is real good about upgrades as is Cakewalk Sonar.
I support companies that are supporting me, but not so much now, but in the recent past, companies have come out with expensive software that was buggy and I have spent thousands on software that didn't work for me and so being able to test it before buying it has been a God send, it seems for the last couple of years the software industry for me has figured things out and now I am
Too legit to quit (upgrading my software)

On the official forum, VMS has approximately 7000 topic, while Vegas Full has 47000. These numbers suggest a far higher number of Vegas Full users. Taking into account the much higher price, it is likely that most of them are 'illegal' users.
Still, I think that sony's security is pretty tight.
