Even a public institution supports this idea.

Not strange. You can't just sell 1.3 million devices and then leave everyone out in the cold. Don't know how this will end, but Toshiba would be wise if they followed your advise...</description>

		<description>This is a great idea. I have the Toshiba HDA-3 and would love to turn it into a MythTV frontend. Instead of dumping all those old HD-DVD players into a landfill they could actually turn them into something useful. Toshiba would probably prefer to take the loss and move on instead of doing something cool for the community.  I've started an iPetition &lt;a href="http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/HDDVDSpecRelease" rel="nofollow"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. (the above link may not be active yet)</description>
