Just because some departments are doing well, you can't put the whole corporation under the same basket. (well, apparently Samsung are almost equal, but as I understood it, LG are ahead of them.) LG are also one of the leading R&D companies for the future of display technology (they do a lot of the OLED research.) LG is actually the same company as "Goldstar" was.. I was quite shocked when I realised that. LG manufacture most of the high quality flat panels in use today. (well, apparently Samsung are almost equal, but as I understood it, LG are ahead of them.) LG has ZERO software support for unlocked phones, and they would release updates for locked carrier phones only under pressure from a carrier. They are not responsible about it, because it's not part of how they do cellphone business. Apple or Nokia would never have had this luxury.
