>Blu-Ray prohibits porn ...

I thought that while Sony disapproves of porn the Blu-ray Disc Association has said that there is no ban against adult movie content.

Oh well, you're not missing much. Tin Man still looked just as bad in HD. I think their color grading filters were stuck on blue. ;)

Blu-Ray prohibits porn. So they will have to go with HD-DVD anyway.

Comcast has SciFi in HD too, just not in my area. Which is of course kinda stupid, given that people in the Silicon Valley are tech-oriented and would want to watch SciFi Channel more than in other areas that the HD version is available.

I'm waiting to see which format is fully embraced by the porn industry -- they successfully shifted the balance to VHS back in the day.

On a side note, DirecTV has SciFi in HD :)

In Europe HD players are not a success because people don't have HDTVs. And people don't have HDTVs because there are not many HD TV channels. If this changes, then people will buy HDTVs and then they will buy HD players. Here in US, except SciFi channel, all the TV channels I watch, are all in HD now in my local Comcast cable.

In Europe, 1 million blu-ray movie discs were sold, which is peanuts, against 20 million ps3 games. Don't know about HD Discs, but my idea is that this war is not over yet. These numbers are conjured up and manipulated by marketeers. I think that the market will evolve towards hardware that will play both formats. High Def is not catching on in Europe, and sony's high priced ps3 is a big failure. Even in high streets shops, the ps3 is hidden away in some dark corner, and shop assistents could care less about it. The Wii is the hype here, but it doesn't play hd dvds... Only some really aggressive marketing strategy from sony's part can change that situation, like stopping production of SD dvds.
