I downloaded the trial to Vegas, tried to install it and hit a wall :-(. So then I hunt around and see that Sony doesn't support Windows XP64. uhh. . . wow. Thats a bit of a show stopper right there. :-/ I need my 4 gigs of ram for all the other stuff I do. . . and I'm not about to go get Vista. None of my apps work there either. Regarding the color grading, the noise was on the original footage and it’s part of the look I wanted to have anyway.

Stuff like this obviously needs more light during the shoot. The second one in the bedroom is much better, but the window curtain is blown out. I don't like blown out stuff, but this is me. When I was choosing an HDTV, I tried three different makes and models, I bought my own colorimeter and I tried to achieve as gentle gamma curve as possible. For normal video work for all the family, I agree, there is no reason to overdo it, but if you are shooting a movie, there is.
