Well, with "Blend fields" quality is just bad though on fast motion.

It seems that with "interpolate" you simply lose half of the resolution. It looks like that Vegas takes one field and doubles the lines. Not good, but probably is ok for internet distribution.

Duh. Got it, and thanks for the clarification. I'm new to this and I'm amazed at how complex this is, technically, and how imperative traditional 'apprenticeship' is when it comes to improving, know-how, and actual story-telling art.

Any sites/forums to recommend that discuss topics slightly wider then the actual camera hardware?

Your kind of feeding cat here with my questions - so my promise is made that this is my last question (until your next post!)

Hi Ben, thanks for the kind comment and offer. :)

So, when you have already removed pulldown for your Canon HV20's 24p footage using one of the available methods, you don't need to de-interlace at all that footage when you bring in inside Vegas. You select "None" for field order, and "none" for de-interlace method too. You see, pulldown'ed 24p footage is already de-interlaced.

My above blog post is only valid for footage that is not de-interlaced, e.g. DV/HDV/AVCHD footage straight from the camera.

Eugenia, I'm a fan of yours and it doesn't help that I miss Foster City and I'm stuck in San Jose now. Thanks for this tutorial (and every post of yours). Does this mean that 24p pulldown isn't necessary, or does that involved process still need to be done when working with Vegas? How does this fit in with a 24p workflow?

If you're ever in San Jose I absolutely insist on buying you a peet's!
