The borg one could still have been a lot shorter and like an hour long TV movie rather than a 1.5+ hour movie. They faffed around a lot. The one with Kirk and Picard was bad (Generations?). The ones after Wrath of Khan up till the Generations one were all fairly bad. The borg one was okay, but was still just an expanded idea that next gen would have done in a single show back in the 90’s. The Wrath of Khan was like an extended single episode - but was at least quite a good story. The original film - well, let’s not go there None of the Star Trek films are as good as the TV shows and none are a patch on Start Wars or the other Movies listed.

Yeah I just looked it up and it seems US release date is 20th of July, my sister and I seen it a month ago or so, and I live in Serbia, not really the prime spot for movie premieres.

Try to see it if you can and let me know if you liked it.

Haven’t heard of that movie. Did it have a limited release, or did it go directly to DVD? Update: Ah, it’s not out in US yet.

There is one spaceship movie that came out this year, Sunshine. I’ve seen it and it’s pretty good. Has a bit of a weird part near the end but I’m willing to forgive that.

Sunshine - not seen it, but it’s by Danny Boyle who did Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, 28 days later and was written by Alex Garland who also wrote “The Beach”. Class credentials!

Star Trek is not in the top 10 because it makes for horribly bad films. I saw the one, Nemesis was it?, on Monday. The one with the JLP clone. WTF? It was like a bad TV movie. Thta’s the problem with most of the Start Trek films, they feel like bad, over extended 50 minute episodes streatched out to 2 hours. TV series - I find no fault. Film==bad.

Then there’s Back to the Future, Robocop, Superman, and under creation still, Fantastic Four & Sin City.

I think that he needs to update and make his list a top-15 instead.

How about Austin Powers? Or the Godfather movies? By the way Matrix should be in the list - it sure made more waves than Batman. Also, children’s movies - Lion King comes to mind, plenty of people grow up with that Hamlet story in a cute animal package. “Scary Movie” as stupid as it was still amassed quite a following.
