Around 93 to 96 were the best days for Eurodance. I used to listen to a radio station called N-Joy Radio and I used to hear all the great dance songs. My favourites artists were Snap, Haddaway, Capella, and lots more. I loved the songs because they had a great beat and were melodic. I dont like the modern music that much these days because the new artists arn’t creating classics like they used to. I recently got back into song writing and I am using my eurodance influences in helping me write my songs.

Heh, yeah I see the link now in your post to the DI forums . I’m in the process of writing a DI Channel Aggregator desktop application (they publish their playlist as an XML doc, this is a wrapper around it). It’s gonna have features galore, can’t talk much about it now, but it’s almost feature complete. DI is the hands down the best streaming site on the net IMO. I’m livid about all the new fees that are going to be imposed soon. Bastards.

While I’m not a big eurodance fan, I am a huge electronica fan…been listening to it for the past 15+ years.

Check out www.di.fm; they have a eurodance channel that you’d probably like (it’s free).

I just checked iTunes and found that Solid Base are represented there. However, I was in a shock that the Americans have bought “Push it” (the cover to Salt’n'Pepa that was never a big hit of theirs) instead of their own hits. I mean, compared to songs like “I like it”, or “Stars in the night” etc, “Push it” does not deserve to hold the FOUR first positions in the top-5 of the SolidBase’s iTunes chart! It just shows that Americans just quickly heard the 30 sec previews, recognized only “Push it”, and bought just that!

God this song of theirs is so amazing!

‘Ace of Base’ were not eurodance. They were house/pop.

As for SNAP’s songs, these guys were pre-history as far as Eurodance goes. They were one of the pioneers, back in the day where Eurodance was not established yet (Eurodance dates from 1990 to 1996, with Snap having hits in 1990 mostly). SNAP’s songs were pre-eurodance (a hip/hop/house/dance mix), just like C&C Music Factory’s. They were not 100% Eurodance, even if these songs actually were also played a lot in the clubs during the ’90s.

LaBouche were great. Too bad their singer died in a plane accident in 2001.

LA Bouche’s Sweet Dreams also has the song “Where Do You Go.” It was later covered by No Mercy.

I recognize The Real McCoy, Corona, and Rednex. I might also recognize a few more if I took the time to listen.

No Ace of Base ? “The Power” and “Rhythm is a Dancer” by SNAP! could go in there too.

CC, I like U96 and “Impossible” by CHollywood. I never liked Jam&Spoon though… To trance-y for me.

BTW, my brother was a DJ too in 1993-6, in the golden era of Eurodance. He was DJ’ing in our local club, and he was only 15-16 years old when he started. He was a star, felt really good being the sister of the DJ.
My father never forgave me for “introducing Teo to this kind of music and nightlife”.

Except the bad habit of smoking (which my brother started when he was 13 anyway), my brother stayed out of trouble (no drugs or drinking), and today he also remembers of the era with nostalgia. These days my brother works as an electrician.

Too bad that we have very few photographs in our family in general. I don’t think my brother has ANY photo of him DJ’ing!
