I think when you’ve run a community and seen how users can be sometimes, it gives you a different perspective on these things… I understand the users’ point of view too. They want a geek company that won’t sell out one day. But Digg ain’t it.

In fact, who in their right mind would build something great and big and successful and not sell one day to whoever pays?

Will Craigslist be the same as it is now in 10 years? Maybe…but that’s about the only one I can think of that has a chance…

But I do think Digg will survive..

Babelfish doesn’t use the word ‘hex’ and lots of others and I don’t think it’s Worldlingo either. The syntax is not remniscent of far eastern languages either. I’m baffled, some middle eastern country or maybe India ?

Steve where art thou from ? Or even better Eugenia can u GeoLoc his IP ?

> Steve No_, I don’t understand a thing of what you are saying

Though he is speaking in riddles, I can understand what he is saying:

He doesn’t agree with “trolls” dwelling on the “legal issues” relating to the HDDVD “revolt”.

He doesn’t believe the HDDVD thing will affect Digg at all.

He makes a comparison to Digg’s HDDVD “policy” and the Iraq/Afganistan war - probably a reference to Bush’s policies.

He believes that claiming that talking about the HDDVD thing is illegal is “puerile and evil”.

He then says that people should make their own minds up and makes a reference to a couple of movies. Never seen Happy Feet, so have no idea what he means here.

He ponders whether you, Eugenia, know more than you’re letting on concerning Washington coming down hard on Digg with regards to the HDDVD thing.

He then complains that the New York Times is in the pocket of the US Government.

He’s then making no sense.

To be honest, it looks like he used babelfish.altavista.com to translate his native language to English

Steve No_, I don’t understand a thing of what you are saying. Your sentences are reading like bubbling on random things. Learn to write in a way that makes sense, or please spare us the headache.

Maybe you know something about how ineffectual Digg’s enormous Washington lobby is going to be this week, that they will claim sufficiency for that hex sequence?

Can they possibly have a ‘publisher’ who is more of a pushover than the NYT has had (all two) and relenquish the press to the sole domain of LOC.gov?

Tagging has to have some inflection point to become relevant without reserve….

The not going out when legal trolls are out thing is completely insensible, and I expect Digg to survive it easily on every basis. They are not putting soldiers (national interests, water quality, etc.) in danger leaking that stuff, and claiming a conversation about rights and basic senses ‘forbidden’ with no recourse or bilateral declarations is puerile and evil. Let people make their calls and err more, and none, and less; though maybe _Happy Feet_ as a film rather than a trailer was for robots.

Eugenia ,

No I am not raving , I am informing you of content , information and fact you decided to discard or where unaware of. There was no aggressive tone or treat in my text or attack on you , just stating facts. Sorry , my formating is as always really bad and I could have been politically more correct.

Your point is wrong , as its based on half information and half truth and I know a little bit of projection of your own feelings toward this situation ( we both know that you take a little too much , thing personally ).

- There is 1 million Digg users , the highest related story Digged was 50 000.

- People are not against Digg , its corporation behind it and Kevin ( even do I am sure that some Anti those participated in those actions ).

- International People ( even the majority of Etats-Unians ) are fed up to be subject to *ILLEGAL* and anti-constitutional ( even in the US ) US laws.

Respect is a two way thing.

The bottom line is if they cant be safe from *illegal* prosecution in the US , then moving to another country , with favorable and democratic law like CANADA is the only real solution.

Because once you bow down to anyone of those *illegal* US based corporate group , other’s will follow in drove. Putting it in harm way is being located or subject to possible *illegal* US laws in the US this days.

That , is the bottom line , this days.

Heck , create a new warning ( NFOSTRITU )

>Eugenia am I wrong ?

I don’t know. I was never diagnosed with dyslexia. Besides, people write my name as “Eugina” all the time (which mysteriously rhymes with “vagina” btw) — I don’t get as worked up as the raving Moulinneuf does.

Moulinneuf, throughout my collaborations and friendships with international contacts I’ve never once heard my name right. Get a grip, you don’t need to spell it.
I also suspect that Eugenia is dyslexic, therefore I doubt that she ever actually read it right. Eugenia am I wrong ?

In Canada too you don’t own a copy of the disc. You own the right to view this disc.

Kevin is indeed the founder and first investor of Digg. This makes him responsible for paying the BW, for the developer[s] etc. He took the risk and *absolutely* he takes the bragging rights. The users agree to a deal when they sign-up, they are no entitled to anything more than the right to post their stories and comments and from a business standpoint they should be glad or they should leave. Either way the site’s existance preceded that of the community.

Alternatives do exist but to this day there is only one Digg.

These things said I don’t think Digg is going to get sued anytime soon. If he hadn’t posted the decrpytion key himself he would have some defense a la Napster but now he’s got the crowd’s appreciation. I’m pulling the same card myself and frankly it’s working. Putting publicity behind a problem you can’t solve makes you untouchable.
Anyway now he’s got the ability to shut Digg down with honors and focus on things that make money like Rev3.
